The Hot Aperol, also known as Hot Spritz or Winter Spritz, is a Hot Cocktail that is becoming popular in many northern European countries perfect for consumption on the ski slopes or during cold winter days: basically an interesting alternative to the classic Mulled Wine and the punsch (a mix of tea, spices and rum or brandy) but way more nuanced in flavor.
It first made its appearance at the famous Christmas Markets in Vienna, where it is served to the many tourists who visit the Austrian capital during the winter vacations, and then on to ski resorts throughout Europe. To make this Winter Spritz you’ll need Apple Syrup to be used in combination with Cinnamon, Prosecco, and a few slices of Orange.
When this hot cocktail reached Italy, the Hot Aperol has morphed into the Hot Spritz and the Apple Juice was replaced by Orange Juice with the addition of a little Honey to help offset the acidity of the Orange and at the same time enhance the alcoholic part. The Recipe of the Hot Spritz is therefore very customizable and you can thus decide you How to Make the Hot Spritz whether it is with Apple Juice or Orange Juice.
