Today we want to amaze you with a news that will literally leave you speechless: for any person in the world Spaghetti Bolognese is made with Ragù, but what if we told you that this is not the original recipe of this very famous Italian dish?

In fact, the real Spaghetti Bolognese are prepared with Tuna. And it took years and years of research, interviews, consultation of ancient cookbooks and a lot of work to find out. Yet now it is finally official: one of Bologna’s signature dishes is Bolognese Spaghetti with Tuna!

According to research by the Accademia Italiana della Cucina and the Bologna Chamber of Commerce, Spaghetti in Bologna has traditionally been prepared with Tuna since the early 1900s. This is because Tuna in Oil in those days was less expensive than Meat, and in addition, Spaghetti with Tuna could also be enjoyed on days of abstinence from Meat, such as Fridays or Christmas Eve.
